Sandra (Carey) Simmons passed away February 7, 2024 at the Ideal Living Center in Endicott, NY following a long and difficult battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Sandy, daughter of Lawrence and Yvonne Carey, was born June 14, 1947, in Sidney, NY. She attended Abraham Kellogg Central School in Treadwell and moved on to earn a degree from SUNY Delhi. Sandy married Thomas Simmons and together they raised 3 sons, Mark, Steven, and Ryan.

For many years Sandy and Tom worked side by side as partners in Simmons Construction Company of Sidney. She played a very integral role in the day-to-day business operations and success. During this time, she was also a devoted wife to Tom, a loving mother to her three sons Mark, Steven, and Ryan, while at the same time being an active member of her community. She enjoyed her grandchildren and the time she could spend with them. Sandy was the rock that held the family together and truly “the protector of men.” She always provided support and encouragement to those around her. Sandy was always willing to go out of her way to help both family and friends, as well as support the community. She is greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Sandy was predeceased by her parents Lawrence and Yvonne Carey, two sons Mark and Ryan, and a daughter in law Theresa.

She is survived by her husband Tom, her son Steven, his wife Mercedes, and their son Sebastian along with daughter in law Tracy and granddaughter Emma, grandson Will, and grandson Russell. Also, her sister Susan and sister-in-law Sharon Brunentto.
