Darleen started her career caring for others as a CNA at the NYS Veterans Home at Oxford in 1986, where she selflessly provided care for our veterans. Darleen worked her way up the ranks in her natural element to become an Activities Director before finally retiring in 2016. Darleen loved the residents at the Veterans Home so much she returned after retirement to continue working for another two years in the activities department. Darleen will most be remembered for her time at the Veterans Home because of her warm smile, and the many bike rides she provided to the residents. Darleen also spent some time working at Broome Community College at the bookstore where she developed some special friendships.
Darleen loved to travel. Her favorite destination was Hawaii where she traveled several times. She also liked to travel to any place where there was a sandy beach and warm weather. Darleen spent as much time as she could traveling to see her grandchildren and making memories.
