Phyllis M. Castle, 85, passed away Friday, May 17, 2024, at home. She was born August 22, 1938, daughter of the late Claude and Celia (Woods) Manwarren in Oxford. Phyllis married Millard I Castle, Jr. on September 2, 1961, in Bainbridge. They were married for 62 years when he predeceased her on February 26 of this year. Together they ran their dairy farm in Bainbridge. Prior to running the dairy farm, she worked may years at Fuelane and Tri-Town Insurance. Phyllis was the proud Salutatorian of the class of 1956 in the Guilford School District. Phyllis loved baking and cooking for family. Phyllis is survived by two sons, Michael and Lisa Castle of Bainbridge and Steven Castle and girlfriend, Kathy Bechtold, of Bainbridge; grandchildren: Lindsey Castle and fiancée Kory Rogers and Jonathan Castle; sister, Alta Uhlig and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Phyllis was also predeceased by siblings and their spouses: Geraldine (Stanley) Ireland, Ida (Donald) Loomis, Freida (Edward) Alcott, Linda Tragakis, Alvin Manwarren and brother-in-law, Herbert Uhlig. Graveside services will be held June 8, 2024, at 1:00 pm in Riverview Cemetery in Oxford followed by a celebration of life at the United Church of Oxford, Fort Hill building. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Upstate and Western New York or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County or to the Bainbridge or Oxford Fire Departments.
