Obituary of Matthew R. Tilley

With heavy hearts we had to say goodbye to Matthew Ray Tilley on May 4, 2024. Matthew was born on September 23, 1986 to John and Doris Tilley at Norwich Hospital. He attended Bainbridge-Guilford school. He held many jobs over the years. Mainly working alongside his brother painting houses. He took pride in working at his latest job at FORDO. Matt was a fun guy that was always ready for an adventure. He enjoyed making everyone laugh. He was often referred to as a big kid in a man's body. On the other hand, Matt had a very gentle and loving way about him. He held his family and friends very close to his heart. Matt was a mama’s boy. He’s spent a lot of his time with his mom. He was her best friend, helper, and errand boy. He was very giving whether it be his time to help someone or a thoughtful gift. Matt had a love for music of all kinds. Almost always seen with his ear buds in, jamming away. He was a collector of many things and his brother liked to tease him for using big words, especially phenomenal. Matt is survived by his mother, Doris Tilley of Sidney; brother, Shaun (Malisa) Tilley of Guilford; his beautiful daughter Angela whom he loved very much, two nephews Trevor and Sawyer, niece McKenna, several aunts, uncles, great niece and nephew and many friends he met a long the way. Matt was predeceased by his father, John Tilley, at the tender age of nine. As a young boy he could always be found at his dad’s side. The loss of his father was exceptionally hard. He was also predeceased by his grandparents and uncles, Fred and Sam. Family and friends are invited to call at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel on Sunday, May 19, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00PM. A private burial will take place at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Unadilla at a later date. Please feel free to wear a band shirt in honor of Matt.
