Obituary of Arla Mae Phoenix

Arla Mae Phoenix, 86, of Unadilla, and formerly of Trout Creek, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024. Arla was born November 18, 1937, daughter of late Millard (Pat) and Elizabeth VanValkenburg of Trout Creek. She married Adam (Rex) Phoenix on March 16, 1957 and he predeceased her in 2007. Arla loved playing cards, and sitting on the porch visiting with her neighbors. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Kathy Phoenix, Taylors, SC, and Larry and Michelle Phoenix, Trout Creek; two grandchildren, Megan Phoenix of Hancock, and Joshua McGraw of Walton; and four brothers, Gary (Ann) VanValkenburg of Trout Creek, Doug (Peg) VanValkenburg of Stuarts Draft, Va., Ronald (Sue) VanValkenburg of Trout Creek, and Denny (Doug) VanValkenburg of Binghamton, and a special Aunt, Jean Stanton, of Johnson City and her special friends and card playing companions Freda Puerile, Dawn Smith and Terri Aker. A memorial Service will be at 2:00 PM on June 29, 2024 at the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.
