Obituary of Kitty Murphy

Catherine "Kitty" (Miller) Murphy, 90, of Sidney, passed away on May 10, 2024. She was born in Washington, NJ, on March 12, 1934 to parents Peter and Anna (Chapman) Miller. Kitty married William Gray of New Jersey; they had two children. She later married James Murphy of New Jersey; they had two children. Kitty worked many jobs waitressing and as a coil winder at the Bendix Corporation in Sidney. She enjoyed making cakes on the side, especially wedding cakes. Kitty loved horses, owning them and later in her life, she worked at Pocono Downs, training and caring for harness racehorses. Kitty enjoyed reading, dancing, singing, playing cards and baking. She especially enjoyed time with family. Kitty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Irene Murphy of Unadilla; sister-in-law, Joan Miller of Rockaway, NJ; several grandkids, great grandkids, nieces and nephews. Kitty was predeceased by her son, Daniel; daughters, Deborah and Diane; ex-husband, James Murphy; brother, Edward Miller, and brother and sister-in-law William and Stella Miller. Calling hours will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday, May 18th at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. A service will follow at 1:00pm at the funeral chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney.
