Obituary of Kenneth W. Deck

Kenneth W. Deck, 71, of Unadilla, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Tri-Town Regional Hospital in Sidney. He was born on September 22, 1952 in Newark, NJ, the second of five sons of the late Romanus and Eleanor B. Deck and grew up in Randolph Township and Livingston, NJ. Ken was a lifelong entrepreneur, most recently as a self-employed carpenter with KD Construction. On September 3, 2000, he was married to Mary Mazzarella, the love of his life. Ken was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and Buffalo Bills. Whether it was “Pa”, “Papa”, “Pee-Paw” or “Grandpa”, his pride and joy were his many grandchildren who were the light of his life. Ken will be missed by: his loving wife of 23 years, Mary Deck; children: Bill (Elizabeth) Deck, Christopher Deck, Timothy Deck, Katie (Steve) Laurenzi, Michael Deck, Rosemary (Brandon) Fisher, Emily (Scott) Germond, Lydia (Victoria) Gregory and Natalie (Spencer) Byrne; cherished grandchildren: Susie, Chloe, Kara, Felicity, Hailey, Enzo, Adelaide, Evangeline, Franklin, Lily, Bradley, Veronica, Cody, Melody, Claira and Cameron. He also leaves behind four brothers: Ron Deck, Clifford (Kandee) Deck, Jeff (Beth) Deck and Tim (Lisa) Deck; mother-in-law, Rose Mazzarella; brothers-in-law, Joe Mazzarella and Jeff (Lynne) Mazzarella; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ken was predeceased by his father-in-law, Frank Mazzarella; sister-in-law, Sonia Deck, and brothers-in-law, Frank "Gus" and John Mazzarella. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ken's memory may be directed to the Delaware Valley Humane Society, or the Unadilla Fire Department.
