Obituary of Joyce E. Ferrara

Joyce Evelyn Ferrara, 76, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 29, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Joyce was born on June 1, 1947, in Oneonta, NY, daughter of Frank and Evelyn (Schmitt) Denison. Joyce grew up in Franklin, graduating from Franklin High School. On July 24, 1965, she was married to Jerry W. Ferrara, and they made their lifelong home in Sidney. Joyce was best known for welcoming smiles during her many years of service working at Gelder Medical Group in Sidney. She enjoyed crafting, cross stitching, and cooking. Joyce's greatest pride came from her family, especially her grandchildren, always telling them "I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck." Joyce will be missed by her husband of 58 years, Jerry Ferrara; three children: Joel and Laura Ferrara, Jeanine and Sergio Cervoni and Jeff and Renee Ferrara; seven grandsons: Tyler, Ryan and Connor Ferrara, Leno and Lorenzo Cervoni and Cole and Bryson Ferrara; her mother, Evelyn Denison; sisters: Nancy and Neil Rivaldo, Donna and Mike Stoutenberg and Linda and Jim Pinney; mother-in-law, Doris Ferrara; brothers-in-law, John and Pat Ferrara and Carl Ferrara, Jr. as well as several nieces and nephews. Joyce was predeceased by her father, Frank Denison; grandmother, Florence Schmitt; infant son, Jason; father-in-law, Carl Ferrara Sr. and brother-in-law, Roscoe Ferrara. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff at Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton for their tremendous compassion and care, as well as Helios Hospice for their help in her final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to either organization. Friends are invited to call from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at C.H.
