Ivan W. Bennett, 83, of Sidney Center, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Wilson Regional Medical Center in Johnson City.

Ivan was born in Sidney Center on June 29, 1940, the son of Daniel and Hazel (Benedict) Bennett. He graduated from Sidney Central School, Class of 1958, and went to work for the Walton Reporter. After a couple of years, he decided to take a job at Amphenol and worked there for more than 40 years. Shortly after starting his job at Amphenol, he was drafted and served our country in the Army for 5 years.

He married Carol A. (Foreman) Bennett of Walton, where they resided for 48 years. Ivan is best known for his participation in the Annual Rural Rhythm Country Show and Co-Owning Covered Bridge Gardens, as well as being a former member of the Walton Pistol Club and a current board member for the Sidney Center Cemetery Association. Ivan enjoyed the springtime where he would spend hours in his sap house making maple syrup.

Ivan is survived by his companion, Myrna Drumm, and his loving family: daughters, Coreen and Matthew Germond, and Nicole and Wayne Krom; his sons, Kurt and Rebecca Bennett, and Michael and Patricia Bennett; as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Carol Bennett; sister, Avis Lambrecht; and two brothers, Lynn and Lyle Bennett.

Friends may call from 4:00-7:00pm on Monday, March 18, 2024 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, March 19th at the funeral chapel. Burial with military honors will follow in Highland Cemetery, Sidney Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ivan's memory may be directed to either the Sidney Veterans Memorial Park Association, or the Sidney Center Cemetery Association.
