Creedmoor, NC - Sandra (Sandy) Mae Borden, 82, formerly of Sidney, NY, unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 25,2024 at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, NC. She was born on October 19, 1941, in Sidney, NY to the late Earl and Viola (Michaletz) Hendee. To know Sandy was to know love. She worked for many years at K-Mart in Sidney, NY. Sandy was also a past member of the Sidney Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her sons, Michael Borden (Sarah) of Oxford, NC and William Hoffman (Paula) of PA; her brothers, Earl Hendee (Diane) of Sidney, NY and Richard Hendee (Karene) of Katy, TX; her grandchildren, Ryleigh, Davin, Raelyn, Jacob, Alexis, Amber and Cassie and three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her husband, Charles "Chuck" Borden, whom she married on December 14, 1968, her step-son Bryan Borden, and her brother Jack Hendee. Visitation will be on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan, located at 503 College Street, Oxford, NC. Burial with graveside service will be held March 5, 2024 at 1:00 pm in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Sidney, NY. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation in her name made to a church, school, or a charity of your choice.
