Obituary of Marion O. Swart

Marion O. Swart Bainbridge, NY Marion O. Swart 90, of Bainbridge passed away Sunday, December 19, 2010 at the Oneonta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born December 28, 1919, daughter of the late Harry and Harriett (Haynes) Oles in Unadilla. In her youth, Marion excelled at basketball, bowling and in later years she enjoyed golf. Marion graduated from Unadilla Central School with the Class of 1937 and attended Ridley Lowell Business College in Binghamton. She was employed as an executive secretary for the Borden Chemical Co. in Bainbridge for over 40 years. Marion married Wellington Swart June 27, 1954. He predeceased her on February 26, 1978. Marion was a dedicated member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bainbridge and volunteered her time with the Bainbridge Soup Kitchen and Meal on Wheels. Marion was an avid New York Yankee fan and would attend most of the Oneonta Yankee games with her traveling companions, Charlotte Cole and the late Maddie Baird. Marion is survived by: 2 Nieces - Linda Nowalk, Unadilla Nancy Lewis, Sidney 1 great niece and 1 great nephew 2 great, great nieces. Marion was also predeceased by her sister, Eleanor Oles Burton Friends may call Wednesday, December 22, 2010 from 12 Noon to 2PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral and Committal services will follow in the funeral chapel at 2:00 PM with The Rev. Marilyn Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Afton.
