Anne Cecile Feehan Briggs, of Afton, died peacefully yesterday, December 3, 2023. She was born on March 15, 1935, to Anne and Charles Feehan, in Flushing, N.Y. When she was a child, her family moved to Sherman, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Deposit Central School and later attended Morrisville College. She owned and operated Morgan Hill Realty for many years, with her friend, Barb Johnson. A woman of many talents, she lent her skill, time, energy, and love to many organizations in Afton. She was a room mother, PTA member, 4-H leader, and Cub Scout Den Mother. For more than 60 years, she held essentially every position (other than priest) at her beloved St. Agnes Catholic Church, was on the board of the Afton Free Library for 40 years, was president of the Afton Historical Society and Museum and the Interfaith Church Council, organized the Thanksgiving community meal, and ran the Food Pantry for the town. In her spare time, she was a phenomenal Mom, sister, friend, cousin, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Bob, and her infant son, James, as well as by her parents, siblings Charles and Bob, sister-in-law Phyllis, and daughter-in-law Margaret. She is survived by her siblings Peter, Richard and William Feehan and Joan Cammer, her six children: Betty (Kelly), Michael (Shar), Rich, Laurie (Jessica), Bill (Candy) and Brian (Tammy), 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren, as well as her cousins Jean and Judy, many nieces and nephews, and tremendous friends. Calling hours will be held Friday, December 8th, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Landers Funeral Home in Sidney, and her funeral mass on Saturday, December 9th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Afton. Burial immediately following in Glenwood Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to gather at Afton Social for lunch after the services are concluded.
