Obituary of Darren Jay VanGorder
Please share a memory of Darren to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father affectionately known as Pa, Darren VanGorder. He embarked on his final journey on November 26th, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter and a deep connection to the great outdoors.
Darren was not just a father, he was a beacon of warmth and strength for his family. His love knew no bounds, and his guidance shaped the lives of his children and his grandchildren. The memories of camping trips, fishing excursions and the shared stories around the campfire will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate to call him family.
An avid outdoorsman, Darren found solace and joy in nature's embrace. Whether he was in the woods, waiting patiently in a deer stand, or casting his line into a tranquil lake, his connection to the outdoors was a source of both tranquility and excitement. His passion for hunting and fishing became a cherished tradition passed down through generations.
Darren was not only a skilled hunter and fisherman but a steward of nature. His respect for the environment and its creatures was evident in every adventure he undertook, except Raccoons. His tales of the one that got away or the perfect shot were not just stories but lessons in patience, perseverance, and the beauty of the natural world.
Beyond his adventures in the wild, Darren was a devoted family man. His eyes sparkled with pride at family gatherings, watching his loved ones grow and thrive. He was always so happy and proud to plan the annual family trips to Ocean City, MD which he did for so many years. He would always say "The more, the merrier!" and he ALWAYS knew what time Happy Hour was! His legacy extends not only through the memories shared but also in the values of respect, resilience and love for nature that he imparted.
In honoring Darren's memory the family suggests donating to Three Rivers Coonhound and Beagle Club, 725 Sheep Pen Rd, Unadilla, NY to support the preservation of the landscapes he held dear.
The family will hold a memorial service to celebrate Darren's life with all the people he loved and that loved him. Details will be shared with family and friends.
May Darren find eternal peace, surrounded by the beauty of the great outdoors he cherished so dearly.
With heartfelt condolences,
