Obituary of Ida Viele

Ida Viele went to be with her angels on July 22, 2023. She was born to Frank and Margaret Smith on June 17, 1938 in the town of Unadilla, NY. She married Harold Viele in 1958. He predeceased her in 1994. Ida is survived by a son, Kenneth Viele (companion Dianne Bennett) and his son; a brother Theodore Smith of Arizona, and a sister Nancy Livesey of Florida. Also surviving is her son-in-law, Glen Goble of Sidney who was also her caregiver, and his children; great-grandchildren: Bella and Grayson Goble; former daughter-in-law Kay Thrower and her children including Diana who did so much for Ida; and many nieces and nephews including Patti Metz that visited her often. Ida was predeceased by her mother, Margaret and Stepfather, Ken Whitney, son Anthony; her daughter Teresa; sisters Margaret and Joyce; and brothers Frank and George. She worked most of her life including Scintilla, Keith Clark and The Hospital in Sidney. Later in life she owned and operated an adult home (Home Sweet Home) for many years. In her spare time, Ida loved going to yard sales and fairs. She enjoyed doing crafts with her very good friend Helen Halbert, who also predeceased her. When she was able, she loved to shop and eat with her friend Roseanne Banner. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at the Unadilla Center Methodist Church, Butternut Road, Unadilla.
