Obituary of John T. Winn

John Thomas Winn, 37, of Bainbridge passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023 at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, NY. He was born at Wilson Hospital during a heavy spring snow storm on Earth Day, April 22, 1986. John Thomas was a father, brother, son, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, who was so loved by many. He was an avid card shark; especially loved a good game of pitch. He collected baseball cards, enjoyed shooting hoops and playing baseball. He loved to fish, hunt, play ping pong and video games and was a dedicated Yankees and Cowboys fan. Golf was his passion; sharing his natural ability by teaching others the game. Family gatherings were always special to him just for the simple connection of the warm ties that bind us. He is survived by his parents Tom and Colleen (Starbird) Winn, his brothers, Gavin and Lukas Winn and his son, John Nathaniel Winn. He is also survived by his grandfather, Craig Starbird, and an extended family of aunts, uncles & cousins. John was not able to endure saving himself, but will be offering the gift of life to many others in return by donating his organs to those in need. Donations may be made in John's name to this amazing organization, Donate Life. The family of John Thomas would like to sincerely thank the Wilson ICU staff for their extraordinary care and compassion during his days at Wilson Hospital and those at GBHC who gave him a home. "Tough love" is what John would always say -– look it up. "Truth without love is brutality, and love with truth is hypocrisy." Lifting each other up without judgement, and always with love is what we should take away from John's life story. There will be no calling hours or funeral service and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney.
