Obituary of Joyce B. Frazier
Please share a memory of Joyce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that the family of Joyce Irene (Barnes) Frazier announce that she passed away on July 29, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Joyce was the daughter of Lottie Elizabeth (Morton) Barnes and William Henry Barnes.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Edwin J. Frazier. Her best friend Dottie Utter also passed before her.
Joyce is survived by her children, Terri (Mark) Colwell, Edwin Jr. (Stephanie) Frazier, William Frazier and Christine (James) Roe, and her significant other and caregiver Gary W. Johnson Sr. She is also survived by the greatest joys of her life, her grandchildren: Jillian (Joe), Tiffany, Megan (Stephen), Scott (Laura), Darci (Gerald), Thomas "TJ", Kimberlee (Justin), Taylor, Cassidy, and Mallory. She also loved her bonus grandchildren Jimmy (Misty), Clair (David), Mark, Bella and Joey. Additionally she cared for Gary's children: Gary Jr., Wayne and Cheyenne, and their children. She had a very special kind of love for her two great-grandsons, Hudson and Parker. Aunt Joyce is also survived by many, many loving nieces and nephews. In addition, she was fortunate to have many special friends and neighbors including Kathy and Stan, Bob and Pat, and Mike.
Joyce retired from Amphenol after many years as a machinist. While employed there she was proud of serving as a Union Steward. Joyce was a long-time member of the Sidney American Legion and Phelps Hose Ladies Auxiliary.
Joyce had many fond memories of her childhood growing up on the farm with her seven brothers and four sisters: Barbara, Kenneth, Betty, Bobby, Carl, Mary, Lyle, James, Frances, Edward, and Bud. Joyce attended a one-room schoolhouse on Johnny Brook and later attended high school in Deposit. She loved gardening, baking and sewing, but her greatest pleasure was attending the many different functions her children and grandchildren were involved in - sports, scouts, dance, drama and music. She didn't miss a thing! Joyce was the inspiration for the many extended family beach vacations taken with her children and grandchildren, from the shores of Maine to North Carolina. Those trips were the highlight of every summer
Joyce will be greatly missed by her family and all who loved her. In lieu of flowers please consider donating in Joyce's name to either of the following:
