Obituary of Sandra Jean Mertz

Sandra Jean Mertz, 81, of Bainbridge passed away on June 20, 2023 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. Sandy was born on July 2, 1941 in Franklin, NY, daughter of the late Theodore and Caroline Edwards. She would marry her husband Wendelin Mertz on May 9, 1989 in Unadilla. He predeceased her on March 6, 2002 after sharing many years of happiness together. Sandy enjoyed many things in life with few of her favorite hobbies being crocheting, baking cakes, and camping. She is survived by two sons, Rodney (Linda) Fisk of Wampsville, NY and Roger Fisk of Bainbridge; step-children, Wendy McGrady of Alaska and Greg Mertz of Sidney; grandchildren: Jason Fisk (fiancé Amanda Nelson) of West Winfield, Christopher Fisk of Blossvale, Brandon Fisk of Unadilla, Bobby Fisk of Oakland City, Indiana, Kristin Crosby-Miller of Albany, Natalie Crosby of Plainfield, IL, Stephanie Crosby of Alaska, Jessica (Richard) Plona of Apex, NC and Jarred Mertz (Eleonora) of Anchorage, AK; great-grandchildren: Caysen Fisk, Blayke Fisk, and River Fisk. She is also survived by three siblings, Theodore (Martha) Edwards of Sidney, Rick (Bonney) Edwards of Sidney and Ron (Jody) Edwards of Rockdale, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Sandra was predeceased by her parents, Theodore and Caroline Edwards, husband Wendelin Mertz, two sons, Gary Fisk and Larry Eugene Fisk, stepchildren, Steve Mertz, Randy Mertz and Deborah McGee, siblings Donna Brazie, John Edwards, George Edwards, and Charlene Frear.
