Obituary of Allan James Mongardi

SIDNEY - Allan James Mongardi, 85, of Sidney, NY, passed away on April 21st, 2023 at home with his family. Allan was born in Far Rockaway, NY to Bruno and Rose Mongardi. He graduated from Cairo High School in Cairo, NY in 1955. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY in 1961. Allan was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Upon graduation, he worked as an electrical engineer for Bendix/Scintilla (which later became Amphenol Corporation) in Sidney, retiring after 30 years. He was an avid ham radio operator (K2EZK), and a longtime member of the Walton Radio Association. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Sidney. Allan is survived by his daughter, Nora, of Huntington, NY; his son, Darren, of Oneonta, NY; his sister, Janice Smalling (Joseph) of Montgomery, NY; and many cousins. Also surviving is Lynn Mongardi of Myrtle Beach, SC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruno and Rose Mongardi. Memorial donations may be made to the Walton Radio Association. Visitation will be held at the C.H. Landers Funeral Home, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY on Friday, April 28th from 5 - 7 PM. A funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 15 Liberty St., Sidney, at 10 AM on Saturday, April 29th. Burial at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Sidney will follow.
