Rodney William Wagner, 56, of Masonville, NY, passed away unexpectedly April 5, 2023, at Albany Medical Center.
Born on December 7, 1966 in Sidney, NY he was the son of Dale and Barbara (Hager) Wagner. He married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Sandra Butts on June 2, 1990, in Masonville, NY. Their family was complete after the birth of their daughter, Alaina, and their son, Adam.
Rodney is survived by his parents Dale and Barbara; his wife, Sandra, and their two children: Alaina (Ben) Cutting and Adam Wagner, as well as his siblings; sister, Kristine Sexton (Rob Possemato); brothers: Richard (Tammy), Michael (Sandy), and Dana (Robin) Wagner. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews, Jacylyn, Kenneth, Alexandria, Michael, Lindsey, Hannah, Emilee, Sophie, Trent, and many extended family members. Rodney is also survived by his lifelong friend, Larry Jump. Rodney was predeceased by his mother-in-law, June Butts.
Rodney was a hardworking man, known to help anyone in need. He delivered logs at Wagner Logging for many years until November 2021 when he ran for Superintendent of Highways for the Town of Masonville. Rodney proudly worked at the Town of Masonville since and has built a great bond with his coworkers in hopes of making the town flourish. In his spare time, Rodney enjoyed anything involving International and Cub Cadet tractors and Ford trucks, as well as fixing vehicles and equipment with his brother, Richard, and his son, Adam.
Rodney was loved by all who knew him and will forever be missed. His presence would light any room that he walked into and he will forever be known for being goofy, cracking jokes, and making funny faces just to see other people smile. Rodney was an amazing husband, father, son, sibling, uncle, and friend to anyone that knew him.
They say that grief is the last act of love that we must give to those that are dear to our hearts and that where there is deep grief, there is also deep love.
