June Joanne Strong, 82 of Afton passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Friday, February 3, 2023. She was born June 18, 1940, daughter of the late Donald and Beryl (Hendershot) Crosby in Herrick, PA. The family moved to Afton and she graduated from Afton Central School with the Class of 1958. Jody married her high school sweetheart, Alton Kenneth Strong on October 18, 1958. They purchased their first home in 1966 on Main St. in Afton. There they raised their 3 children. Jody had many jobs; she was a cashier for the Afton IGA/Big M and later a secretary for Stamford MFG in Binghamton. In 1984, Ken and Jody started a sheet metal manufacturing company. They owned and operated the company until 2006 when they sold the business and retired. Jody enjoyed traveling and taking cruises with her husband and longtime friends. What she loved the most was spending time with her children, grandchildren and husband. She is survived by her husband of almost 65 years, Alton Kenneth Strong 3 Children – Renee (Rich) Ramsey, Mark (Michelle) Strong and Jackie Sherman Grandchildren – Dustin Creeden, Andrew Winans, Mark Hart, Ashley Andersen, Montana Strong, Katie Strong, Cheyenne Strong, Becky Taft, and Tyler Sherman. As well as several great grandchildren Jody was also predeceased by her brother, Michael Crosby. Friends may call Monday, February 13, 2023 from 6-8PM at CH Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. Graveside services will be in Glenwood Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in June's name to Lourdes Hospice4102 Old Vestal Road Vestal, NY 13850 Condolences and memories may be shared online at www.landersfh.com Arrangements are under the direction of C.H.
