Obituary of Theresa Cox
Please share a memory of Theresa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Theresa (McBride) Cox, 65, of Bainbridge, NY passed suddenly, but peacefully at home on January 24, 2023.
Terry was born along with her twin sister Anne on September 19, 1957 in Hempstead, NY to Francis and Marjorie (Rissier) McBride, the sixth of eight children. Terry grew up in Mineola, NY and moved to Hankins, NY in 1971 where the family owned and operated the Hankins House inn and restaurant.
Terry met the love of her life, Ken, in the spring of 1980 and the two were married on December 27th of that year. During their 36 years together, Terry and Ken settled in Bainbridge, NY to raise their three daughters while sharing a love that inspired and sustained their whole family.
Over her life Terry was a hard worker and was the center of the home she made for her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend, always welcoming those she loved with open doors and open arms. Terry always put others before herself. Her generosity of spirit was at the heart of who she was and it is that kind and giving nature that is the greatest legacy that she leaves behind.
The greatest joys of her life were her kids - her daughters, sons-in-law, nieces and nephews, and especially her grandchildren. Watching her daughters grow to become amazing women brought her so much pride, and it was her grandkids that made her heart so full. She loved the sounds of kids in the house, punctuated by her own explosive laughter at their silly ways.
Terry was predeceased by her husband Kenneth Delbert Cox, Jr., her parents Francis and Marjorie (Rissier) McBride, and her brothers Daniel and Michael McBride.
Terry is survived by her daughters Kimberly Moore (Jason), Marjorie Lindholm (Alex), and Sarah Cox (Collin Martindale), her grandchildren Liam, Ben, and Julia Moore, Erin Lindholm, and Mason Cox, her siblings Eileen Whigham, Kathy Kreytak, Joan LaBianca, Mark McBride, and Anne Backlund, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Terry's life will held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a fund in Terry's memory through the Tribute Link on the left.
