Obituary of Alice Elizabeth Dello

Please share a memory of Alice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Alice E. Dello, 66, passed away unexpectedly Monday, November 14, 2022 at her home. She was born May 28, 1956 to Stephen J. Thatford and Alice E. Thatford in Mineola, New York. She grew up in Northport and graduated from Northport High School. She married John E. Dello and they raised their children on Long Island until moving to Mt. Upton, New York in 1985. Alice continued to make her home in Mt. Upton with long-time partner, James Baker until her passing. Alice was always happiest when she was cooking (way too much) food for family, friends, neighbors and anyone else who was hungry. She enjoyed making gingerbread trains and houses during the holidays with her children and later her grandchildren. Some of her most well-known and loved dishes that she shared were Swedish meatballs and eggplant rollatini. Alice prided herself in spoiling her grandchildren any chance that she could because "Grandma's don't have rules." Alice is survived by her long-time partner, James Baker, of 27 years; children, Alice and John Gonzalez of Bainbridge; Nicole and Jonathan Salzman and their daughter Kayla of Hewitt, N.J.; Thomas and Emily Dello and their children Eli and Mia of Vestal; Gabrielle and Justin Pedersen and their children Ari and Liam of Oneonta. Alice is also survived by her brothers, Robert Thatford and his wife Roseann, Stephen J. Thatford, Jr., and Thomas Thatford and his wife Mary. Alice was predeceased by her sisters, Nancy Thatford and Diane Caruso and her brother Daniel Thatford. Callings hours will be Friday, November 18th from 5-7 PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street, Sidney.
