Thelma Palmer, 91, of Bainbridge, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022 at A.O. Fox Rehab Center, Oneonta NY. She was born November 13, 1930 in Franklin, NY. Her father and mother, Wilmott and Anna (Armstrong) Houck, predeceased her as well as four other siblings. Thelma graduated high school from Delaware Literacy Institute in Franklin before going on to get a M.S. from Oneonta State and then a B.A. from Albany State. She married James Palmer on August 17, 1952 in Franklin NY. Thelma worked for over 30 years in the Bainbridge Guilford School System. During her retirement she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Thelma was always active in the church and liked watching the grandkids sports as well as watching sports on TV. But most of all she loved being around her family. She is survived by 4 sons and daughters-in-law: James Palmer of Hinesburg, Vermont, Bruce and Donna Palmer of Bainbridge, NY, Dale and Robin Palmer of Bainbridge, NY, and Tad Palmerof Bainbridge, NY; daughter and son-in-law Beth and Kevin O'Hara of Bainbridge, NY; 11 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren; her sister, Harriet Wisse; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A private memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Bainbridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Bainbridge.
