Marg was my cousin, 10 years older than myself. She was such an inspiration to me, beautiful inside and out, she had a wicked sense of humour and an infectious laugh! I always wanted to be like her, I loved her fashion choices and I often tried to do my hair the way she did hers.
Aunty Marjie used to occasionally look after my brother, Dean and I. I used to love reading her comics, The Bunty and The Judy.
Aunty Marjie’s house was always the family meeting place on Christmas Day and I have many fond memories of such a happy household. I was always spoilt rotten by everyone including Marg, Marion and Dave. We were told that Father Christmas had left us presents under their tree.
Marg took myself and Wendy (her friends daughter) on holiday to Torquay where she had worked with her friend Chris. It was a big responsibility for a 21 year old to take an 11 and 12 year old on holiday but she was sensible and our parents obviously trusted her with us. We felt really grown up, being on holiday without our parents and we laughed so much. Marg said I frightened the life out of her one night, she thought I was dead cos I was asleep with my eyes half open.
Marg and Chris were like a comedy duo, we called them Beryl and Sandra from a 1970’s sitcom called ‘The Liver Birds’.
She went on holiday with our Aunty Barb to America and liked it that much that she decided to emigrate. How brave is that? I would never of had the courage to do that.
I don’t know much about her life over there but I do know that her family was her world and Lee and Heather, you are blessed to have had such a wonderful mum! You are both a credit to her.
Sending my sincere condolences and sympathy to both of you, Gary and all of the family.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Adding this on behalf of Barb!
I have special memories of Marg. Even though I was her Aunty to me she was more like a sister as I was only 7 years older than her and we were brought up together.
While my mum was alive, Marion , David and Margaret spent a lot of time with their Ninny (grandmother).
There was one time, when I arrived home from school, Marg was playing in the brook, wearing my dolls bathing costume and apparently David thought she was drowning, shouting for Ninny to come and help. Ninny tried fishing her out and got her rather long bloomer’s caught on barbed wire which Marion found hilarious as she had never seen such big knickers. Marg was safe and sound and was just happily playing but I wasn’t best pleased that she was wearing my dolls bathing costume!
We were also good friends and enjoyed many a night out in the Pipe & Gannex and The Old Club. We had some really good times, enjoying a drink, a chat and a good laugh.
We went on holiday to America together and Margaret enjoyed it so much that this is where she decided to spend the rest of her life.
I missed her dearly but always kept in touch. So sad to hear of her passing!
Sending love and deepest sympathy to Gary, Lee, Heather and all of her family.
