James W. Bartlett passed away peacefully at his home in Sidney, NY on his 87th birthday, April 19th, 2022. He was born in Masonville, NY to James T. and Hazel (Cole) Bartlett on April 19th, 1935. Jim married the love of his life, Joann Audrey Pratt on June 9th, 1973. Jim's life revolved around working hard, being a good person and taking care of his family and friends. He was a long-time member of the United Presbyterian Church of East Guilford. His faith was important to him and he was grateful for the support of the church and for the opportunities to be of service. Jim worked for John's Garage, Keith Clark, Egli Machine and Bendix before establishing Bartlett Disposal in 1969. He and Audrey successfully operated the business for 24 years, retiring in 1993. Jim was devoted to his wife Audrey and his entire family. He looked forward to spending time with all of them, creating precious memories until the very end. Jim and Audrey enjoyed 26 years of Florida winters in the Leisure Village community. They became very involved in events there and he served 21 years on the Leisure Village Board of Directors in many offices. He also served as an officer of the local shuffleboard leagues. He continued to be an amazing person in his retirement where he helped everyone he could. He was walking up to five miles a day up until very recently and would pick up newspapers and taking them to the doors of more elderly residents. They both made wonderful friends and treasured memories. During his retirement he spent a great deal of time working on the Cole genealogy and was vey proud to have established membership in the Mayflower Society. Jim was predeceased by his parents James T. Bartlett and Hazel (Cole) Bartlett, his sister and brother-in-law Myrna (Bartlett) Kazalski and Jordan Kazalski, his daughter Julia A. Bartlett and step-son Timothy L. Gibbs. He is survived by his loving wife Audrey, daughters Michelle Zuk and Lisa Bartlett, stepson Tom Gibbs. Grandchildren- Jessica Zuk, Nicole Zuk, Skyler Zuk, Natalie Gibbs, Rachel Massey, Noah Gibbs. Great Grandchildren- Caleb, Miles, Sofia, Dillon, Leo, Marceline. Great-Great Grandson, Liam, and many nephews and cousins. The family would like to offer their deepest gratitude to Ruth and Peter Humphries of Stuart, Florida for the incredibly loving assistance in making Jim's last few days as peaceful and comfortable as possible. Friends may call from 2:00-4:00pm on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral services will follow at 4:00pm at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be sent to the United Presbyterian Church of East Guilford, PO Box 147 Sidney, NY 13838.
