Obituary of Genevieve May Knorr

Genevieve May Knorr Bainbridge, NY Genevieve May Knorr, 94 of Bainbridge passed away March 16, 2009 at the Otsego Manor in Cooperstown, NY. She has now joined in Heaven her parents, Guy and Velma Barr, and sister Helen Haynes. Genevieve is survived by her husband, Kenneth Knorr (Bainbridge), her son, Gerald and Shirley Bates (Watertown), and daughter, Rhonda and James Scott (Bainbridge), four grandchildren: Jerry and Robin Bates, Jr. (Rome), Teri Lynne and Kris Hagen (West Moreland), Katherine and Rick Granger (Afton), and Jennifer Mott and John Voss (Port Richey, FL), and 9 great grandchildren. Gen worked at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich as an LPN until 1950 when her and Ken moved to Sidney. She was a past President of the Town and Country Garden Club, member of the Monday Club of Sidney, Home Bureau and Extension, a volunteer worker at the Coffee and Gift Shop at The Hospital in Sidney, and a member of the Unadilla Methodist Church. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to make crafts and floral arrangements, cook, bake, collect recipes and travel. We will have many memories of her thoughtfulness, kindness and her hard work. Special thanks to wonderful neighbors Pat and Earl, Jr. Halaquist for all their help. The family also wants to extend their appreciation and thanks to the Otsego Manor Staff and hospice for their care of Gen and Helen. At the request of Genevieve, there will be no funeral. A graveside memorial service will be held on Monday, April 6, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Greenlawn Cemetery, Bainbridge. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.landersfh.com.
