Leatrice (Lea) C. Kenyon Gregory, age 94 of 24 Gilbert Street Sidney, NY passed away peacefully on December 1, 2021 at Chestnut Park Nursing Home, Oneonta NY. She was born August 7, 1927 to Freda Laraway Townsend and Theodore C. Kenyon (decreased), of Stamford, NY. She married her soul mate, Allen (Bud) W. Gregory October 22, 1950 in Albany, NY. He pre-deceased her November 5, 1993.
Lea graduated from Sidney High School in 1945 and the Royal Academy of Beauty Culture of Albany in 1950. She worked as a clerk and group leader at Bendix (Amphenol) in the Timekeeping Department. She retired after 25 years in 1982.
She was a member of Sidney Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary No. 183 and the Sidney Central School Alumni Association where she was an active member and kept in touch with her classmates of '45 and her alma mater. Her hobbies included keeping her home, tending to her feline companions, writing, adding to her extensive bear collection, knitting, taking walks, feeding and watching the birds and tending to her flowers.
She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who put the needs of her family and dearest friends first. She is survived by her three children: son Allen H. Gregory and wife Susan of Unadilla, son Kevin L. Gregory and wife Beatrice of Timberlake, NC and daughter Amy K. Ryan and husband William of Loudonville, NY. Six grandchildren and their families: Heather (Gregory) Thomas and husband James of Bloomville, NY and their children, Caila and Cole; Erin (Gregory) Conrade and husband Randy of Unadilla, NY, Christopher and Owen; Aaron Gregory and wife Shelby of VA, and their children, Levi and Zane; Jennifer Gregory of NC and her daughter, Esmae ; Kellie Gregory of NY and her sons, Caige and Lux; Gregory Marshall of NC. She is also survived by three half-sisters and a half-brother, several cousins and friends.
At her request there will be a private family graveside service held at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Sidney, NY. Those wishing may contribute to the Sidney Fire Department or Sidney Central School Alumni Association. Arrangements were made by C.H. Landers Funeral Home.
