Edward Ziobro, 91, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021. Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, on March 22, 1930, son of John and Mary Ziobro, the youngest of 5 children. With his siblings Frank, Gizella, Veronica and Stanley, he was raised in Strzyzow, Poland, his beloved homeland. Ed moved back to the US at the end of WWII., having survived the brutality of that war. In NYC, he met and married Genevieve Lesniak of Lublin, Poland. While in Brooklyn, they welcome their children Edward, Jr., born in 1950 (since deceased) and twins, Andrew and Elizabeth, born in 1953. In 1953, they moved to a farm in Rockdale, NY. While running the farm, Ed was employed at Borden's in Bainbridge, NY as machinist for 20 years. Upon Genevieve's death in 1974, he returned to work in NYC as a butcher for Schaller and Weber until he retired in 1992. He traveled to Rockdale every weekend while he lived in NYC. Ed possessed a passion for hard work, gardening, farming, restoring his beloved home which was built in 1830, cooking, and of course butchering. His Kielbasa Polish sausage was famous at the Sacred Heart Church Harvest weekends for many years. His pierogi stuffed dumplings were featured at family events throughout the year. He loved to have company of friends and relatives, during holidays and his famous Summer picnics in Rockdale. He loved to entertain with historical stories, always willing to talk about his pride for Poland and his deep respect for the United States. He was the best dancer at any wedding and had a great appreciation of music. He loved to travel, first taking his young family for a family visit to Poland in 1965, where he returned numerous times through the years. His travels through the years included Poland, Lithuania, France, Italy, Switzerland, Alaska, South Dakota, Canada, Florida, and all of the east coast. His traveling inspired his extended family with the same wanderlust.
