Betty Jean (Whitehead) Hadden (1930-2021) Betty Jean Hadden, age 91, of Sidney, New York, passed away peacefully October 17, 2021, at Bridgewater Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility, in Binghamton, NY. Betty Jean was born on June 30, 1930. Betty Jean Whitehead of Hempstead, LI., relocated and moved to upstate New York in her teenage years and attended Afton Central High School, Afton New York. Where she eventually resided years later with her family. In 1952, she married Ralph M. Hadden, of East Branch, New York. She was a home maker and stay at home Mom, always involved in activities at the school and with the town of Afton. She had many talents, she was an excellent cook, loved to sew, knit/crochet and play golf. She would be known to fill in and help at the local Afton Golf Club, as cook or bartender. Betty Jean was a business owner; owned and operated the Afton Liquor Store before selling and re-locating to New Jersey. She eventually headed back to upstate to retire and become a resident of the Sidney Senior Citizen Village of Sidney New York. She loved her family. Betty Jean was predeceased in life by her parents Eugene and Elizabeth Whitehead; her husband Ralph of many years - and a brother Louis Whitehead and a stepbrother Steve Whitehead. She is survived by her 3 Children, 3 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandchild + 4 nieces and 2 nephews. (Tanya, Louis, Dawn, Leslie, Kelly and Chris) Her son: Kal Hadden and wife Connie, of Binghamton NY: their daughter, Courtney and Mark Gustafson of St Louis, MO. Her daughter: Karen and husband Paul Wolf, of Cedar Grove, NJ and their sons: Michael Wolf and wife, Alicia, their daughter Giovanna, Cedar Grove, NJ - and their son Patrick Wolf and fiancé Tricia Moore, of Brick, NJ. Her son: Kim Hadden and his wife Rachelle, of West Caldwell, NJ. Betty Jean was a kind and caring person and was loved by everyone she met. Betty Jean was well known for her “opinion” and she never liked when folks called her “Betty” – “My name is “Betty Jean”! she would reply. She will be missed. There will be no calling or visitation hours. A small intimate, family service will be held at the burial site of Prospect Hill Cemetery in Sidney New York, alongside of Her deceased husband Ralph. This will take place at 1:00pm on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. The Hadden Family thanks the Staff and the Nursing staff/Medical teams at Bridgewater Rehab-Nursing Home; as well as the teams at United Health Care, Lourdes and Wilson Hospitals and all who supported her in life during these last couple of years.
