In Loving Memory Bonnie J. Vartanian 2/7/1927 - 4/15/2021 Cortland, NY Mrs. Bonnie J. Vartanian, 94, of Homer, New York passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, April 15, 2021. Bonnie was born in Afton, New York on February 7, 1927, the daughter of the late Russell and Doris (Hinds) Howe. She graduated from Afton Central School in 1944, the Binghamton City Hospital School of Nursing in 1947 and the State University of New York College at Oneonta in 1974. She worked at the Sidney Hospital starting in 1950 before returning to Afton Central School as the school nurse-teacher for 20 years, retiring in 1982. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Karekin Sarkis Vartanian. She is survived by her son, Thomas Vartanian (Keri) of Cortland, NY; plus granddaughters Jennifer (Andrew) Gray of Knoxville, Tennessee and Katherine Vartanian of Cortland, NY. Bonnie was an avid golfer and became an accomplished Rummikub player in her later years. She requested just a graveside service which will take place Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at the East Side Cemetery in Afton, NY beginning at 12 p.m. with a reception taking place afterwards at the River Club in Afton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the East Side Cemetery in Afton or the Nineveh Presbyterian Church Cemetery Association. Graveside services entrusted to C.H.
