Mary O’Hara Medlar
Johnson City—Mary O’Hara Medlar, 74, formerly of Sidney, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021.
Mary was born on April 7, 1946, daughter of the late John and Eileen (Martin) O’Hara. She married Gary Ralph Medlar on September 3, 1976 in Unadilla, and together raised 3 boys whom she adored.
She enjoyed a 47-year career beginning at Amphenol Aerospace and retiring from Unison.
Mary will be best remembered for her quiet dignity, her generosity of spirit and her kind-hearted, gentle soul. Many can recollect benefitting from the “Medlar Hotel” or the “Medlar Taxi Service”; her heart and home were always open. She loved arts and crafts, sewing and quilting, and was well known for giving celebratory gifts of pillowcases, quillows, quilts or clocks for special occasions. She was an avid bowler, and loved all things baseball, especially the NY Yankees. She was a loving mother, supporting her boys in every endeavor, and a devoted grandmother. And like the birds Mary so enjoyed watching, her soul is now free to soar on to greater heights.
She will be missed by her three sons: Sean Medlar, Chris and Chariese Medlar, and Kenneth Medlar; granddaughter, Cadence and three grandsons: Jackson, Parker and Maddox; her sister, Anne (O’Hara) Bishop, as well as several lifelong friends and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Gary, and her sister, Eileen (O’Hara) Pierce.
Friends are invited to call from 11:00am-1:00pm on Wednesday, March 24th at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney. Due to COVID restrictions, funeral services will be private. Share condolences and memories with the family online at www.landersfh.com.
