Obituary of Douglas A. Norwood III

Please share a memory of Douglas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Douglas August Norwood III, 50, of Unadilla, NY, passed away on February 1, 2021 in Wilson Hospital. Doug was born in Liberty, NY on March 5, 1970 to Douglas A. Norwood Jr. and Ann D. Norwood (Ostrander). He is survived by his children, Colin Norwood (Grandson, Calum Norwood), Devon Norwood, Ariannah Norwood, and Colton Norwood. His siblings, Tammy Norwood (Big Favorite Sister) and August Norwood (Youngest Baby Brother). And his many nieces and nephews. Doug went to high school at Downsville Central School and was a carpenter for most of his life. He enjoyed working with his hands, which included, his wood working hobbies, fishing, fixing up his newest project, which was his boat. He couldn't wait to take his family and friends fishing on that boat. Doug loved his family more than anything, he was also a devoted father, and friend. His family knew him as the "social butterfly". Anyone that knew Doug, likely has fun and great stories/memories of him. He will be forever missed for his witty sense of humor and his fantastic one-liners (which cannot be printed here). He was called the "Vicar" he could talk to anyone, anywhere. You couldn't take Doug anywhere without someone knowing/chatting with him. Doug had a big kind heart that would do anything for anyone. He once met a stranger, chatted and had dinner/lunch, then paid for their meal – that's only one tiny example of the wonderful person Doug was. No matter how old or young he was, his older sister Tammy could always con him into shenanigans. Nana, could always talk him into playing a game of dice. He loved music, Metallica was one of his favorite bands and he hated Led Zeppelin. There isn't enough "Cloud Space", ink, paper, or room, to describe what a great man Doug was. He will forever be missed by so many – and he surely will never, ever, be forgotten. And last but not least, of all the people he touched, his most proud achievement in life was his kids, who will always give us a "glimpse" of Douglas August Norwood, III.
