John T. Solomon, 70, of Afton, passed away on January 4, 2021 at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown. He was predeceased by his father, Andrew Solomon and his mother Ann Solomon (Repko). He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Beverly Solomon (Holdrege). He is also survived by his brothers, Andrew and Jeannie Solomon, and Matt and Terry Solomon and his sister, Mary and Jack Shapinas, along with his niece and nephews, Michael and Jessie Shapinas, Dan Solomon and Matt Solomon. His mother-in-law, Ellen Holdrege, brother and sisters-in-law, Carol Croft, Charlie and JoAnn Holdrege and Kim and Melvin McCaulley, along with his nieces and nephew, Holly and Brody Croft and Loraine McCaulley also survive. John worked as a Laborer at SUNY Binghamton until he retired in 1996. John loved to hunt and fish. He also loved watching westerns and always had a story to tell. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday January 13, 2021 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at C.H. Landers Funeral Home, 21 Main St. Sidney. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
