Obituary of Francis A. Walley

Francis Walley, 80, of Unadilla, passed away Friday, December 25, 2020 at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home after a prolonged illness. He was born on April 30, 1940, the son of Ford Walley Sr. and Veda (Backus) Walley in Rock Royal, NY. He married Barbara Wormuth on November 26, 1983. He was predeceased by his parents, son, Robert, and brother, Clayton. Francis worked at Amphenol in Sidney, retiring in 2003. He attended the Friends and Family Church in Sidney Center. He loved the outdoors and did a lot of gardening and landscaping. He also was a hunter. His greatest passion was snowmobiling, and winter weekends found him in the Adirondacks snowmobiling with his brothers. In retirement, he and his wife spent the winters in Florida where they enjoyed their many friends and all the activities. Francis is survived by his wife of 37 years, Barbara; one grandson, Cody; and two brothers: Ford (Ann) Walley of Afton and Richard Walley of Pompano Beach, FL. He is also survived by one step-son, Thomas Wormuth of Lake City, FL; six nephews: Roger Walley, James Walley, Stephen Walley, Michael Walley, Ryan Walley and Derek Walley as well as two nieces: Mary Earl and Lynn Walley. Friends are invited to call from 3:00-5:00pm on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St Sidney, NY 13838. Graveside services in Glenwood Cemetery, Afton, will take place in the spring. Memorial donations in his memory may be directed to the Friends and Family Church, Sidney Center.
