Please share a memory of Norman to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Norman E. Fletcher BAINBRIDGE—Norman Ernest Fletcher, 66, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2020 at Cortland Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Norm was born on August 10, 1954 in Sidney, son of the late Ernest C. and Helen (Mitchell) Fletcher. He enlisted in the United States Navy, serving three years before reenlisting as a recruiter for an additional term. He loved the Navy and was incredibly proud of his service to our country. Norm was a hard worker; growing up he could be found working on his brother Harvey's farm. Later on, he was a gifted salesman for various companies including ECOLAB's, Prudential Insurance and Kraft. He later worked as a machinist at Amphenol Corporation before his health forced him to retire. If it had wheels, Norm wanted to see them turn and know "how fast will that go?", whether it be a tractor, 4-wheeler, or anything else. In his younger years, he was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. Norm was a dedicated member of the First Congregational Church UCC in Coventryville for the last few years, always volunteering and using his sales skills to benefit the church. He was always willing to help someone out or lend a hand; he was even known to plow the driveway of every neighbor on his hill if it needed doing. Winter and Christmas were his favorite time of year; he enjoyed playing Santa Claus, with his kids in tow as his elves. When his children were young, he would plow the driveway just to be able to build snow forts or ramps for them to enjoy. He loved sports, especially wrestling. He was a coach for Kelly's Club wrestling, and later in life, he was a proud supporter of his grandchildren's school sporting events. Norm loved to talk and was a true social butterfly, as well as a practical joker; he loved to laugh and to make people happy. On December 24, 2015, he was married to the love of his life, Hope (Bedell) Fletcher who survives. He will also be missed by his three children: Danielle and Scott Hoeppner of Whitney Point; Jim Fletcher of Greene and Jonathan Fletcher and Amy Virga of Delhi; four grandchildren: Alex, Madison, and Claire Hoeppner and Otto Fletcher; three siblings: Harvey and Judith Fletcher of Bainbridge; Emma Jean Srinsky of Afton and Dennis and Linda Fletcher of Bainbridge; sister-in-law, Ethel Forward Fletcher of Richmond, VA; and many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Dale Fletcher, and brother-in-law, Michael Srinsky. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, memorial services for Norm will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his memory may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org, or to the First Congregational UCC, 113 County Road 27, Bainbridge, NY 13733.
