Marie Shofkom, 94, found peace with her Lord and loved ones on December 11th at Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center in Rochester, NY. She has lived at Westwood Commons Assisted Living in North Chili NY for the past 3 years until COVID took its toll. She was born Florence Marie Lewis on January 5, 1926 in Afton, NY to Fred and Jesse Short Lewis, who predeceased her. She graduated from Afton High School and went on to Southern Seminary College in Buena Vista, Virginia. She also attended Binghamton Business School and worked in the office at Bendix/Amphenol until she retired in 1988. She met the love of her life, Clifford Shofkom, and they were married in 1946 at St. Ann's Episcopal Church in Afton, NY. Marie was a long-time member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Sidney. Cliff and Marie built their home on Old Hill Rd in Unadilla. They were active in Round Dancing in both Sidney and Binghamton. They also performed in Hawaii and the Naval Academy at Annapolis, and sundry places. Marie loved music and often played the piano for her family. She would sing and hum. Marie was predeceased by her husband, Clifford Shofkom in 2007: brother Kermit Lewis: sister Joan Corbin: and baby sister Janet Lewis. They are survived by: daughter, Barbara Grant; son Thomas Shofkom & Pat Olne; 6 grandchildren: Dawn Grant Mortimer & husband Corey; Suzanne Grant Hernandez; Darin Grant & wife Kate; Thomas J. Shofkom & wife Kim; Brandon Shofkom; and Triston Shofkom Stahle & husband Mark. Marie will be missed by her 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as friends and neighbors. Arrangements are under the direction of C H Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney. Share condolences and memories with the family at www.landersfh.com. Burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery will be private. A Celebration of Marie's life will be postponed until spring 2021.
