Please share a memory of Frances to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Frances Eliza (Todd) Roberts passed away peacefully on September 26, 2020. She was a resident at the Chestnut Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Oneonta, NY.
She was born on Sept. 30, 1923 in Margaretville, NY, the daughter of Roy & Eunice Todd where she grew up on a farm in Drybrook. After graduating from High school, she began her career as a nurse at the Margaretville Hospital where she met her future husband Donald Roberts who she married in 1942. They moved to Sidney, NY in 1962 to follow Don's job as Administrator of the Sidney Hospital. Throughout her life she was a loving wife and mother. She worked at the former Smart Bootery on Main Street in Sidney for many years while raising two sons. She was a member of the Sidney Methodist Church.
She spent 35 years living in a log cabin with Howard Etts who was a friend from her school days. They enjoyed traveling. They made several trips to Alaska, Branson Missouri, and saw all but one of the Continental United States in their travels. Fran was a country girl at heart who enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, country music, entertaining and nature and always looked out and cared for the good of others. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband Donald, son Alan Roberts, Brother Stratton Todd & longtime partner Howard Etts. She is survived by her son Rick Roberts & Cheryl (Sidney), Daughter-in-law Rozanne Roberts & Granddaughter Kristin Roberts (Endicott), and several nephews as well as close friends Peter & Lynn Britton. The family would also like to thank the staff at Chestnut Park for the care given with Special thanks to Wendy, Amanda and all the others who helped during her years there (you know who you are).
A small private graveside service will be held at the Margaretville Cemetery where she will be laid to rest in her beloved Catskills and hometown.
The family asks; if you are so moved to please donate to the Alzheimer's Association or other charitable organization of your choice. Help make a difference in everyone's future.
