LaVerne H. DeForest, III passed away on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020 at his home. He was born on August 7, 1935 in Sidney, son of the late LaVerne H. DeForest, II and Eve (Bida) DeForest. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his oldest son, LaVerne H. DeForest, IV of Mt. Upton.
Verne was a self-employed autobody technician and business owner for over 60 years. He enjoyed cooking, target shooting, and snowmobiling. He had a fondness for caring for and taking in the neighborhood stray cats.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Berling DeForest of Mt. Upton; his son, Lance DeForest of Mt. Upton; his daughter, Pierrette Hood of Williston, SC; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
There will be no services at this time. In Verne's memory, please consider memorial donations in his name to Hospice of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St. Norwich, NY 13815.
