Edwin Aubrey Wood passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 4, 2020. Edwin was born June 17, 1929 to Clausen and Catherine Wood in Oneonta, NY. He attended the Sidney Central School, graduating in 1946. He was employed at Keith Clark Calendar Factory for 40 years until his retirement as a 1st Pressman.
Edwin married Jacqueline Dunshee in 1950 and together, they raised five children: Michael, Joelene, Peter, Thomas and Andrew.
Edwin volunteered as a peewee and little league coach and as a scouting Dad as his children were growing. He was an avid bowler, often traveling to tournaments in Toledo, Ohio, Buffalo and Rochester, NY as a member of the Mirabito Team. He and Jackie also traveled around the Northeast to antique and bottle shows.
Edwin was a 63 year member of the Sidney Moose Lodge, 56 year member of the Sidney Elks Lodge, and was also inducted in the Tri-County Bowling Hall of Fame.
Ed was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Jacqueline; his sister and her husband, Frances and James Shattuck; his son and daughter-in-law, Pete and Colette Wood; and his son-in-law, Terry Cole.
Surviving are his daughter, Joelene Cole; sons, Michael, Thomas (Beth) and Andrew Wood; his grandchildren: Garrett (Candace), Jared (Christina), Aaron (Jeanette), Jeff (Lisa), Dustin (Kate), Aubrey, Thayne, Emily, Jacqueline and Allyson Wood , Sarah (Luke) Coddington; great-grandchildren: Owen and Whitney Wood, Cambre, Tatum and Ryder Coddington, Hannah, Caroline Grace and Lily Wood. Ed was especially fond of his poker friends, Chris and Gary, Howard, Sharon and Jim.
Friends are invited to call from 5:00-7:00pm on Friday, February 7, 2020 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 8th at the funeral chapel. Burial will take place in the spring in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney.
