I’d like to extend my sympathies to my lifelong friend and Sidney ‘76 classmate Dave Osborn on the passing of his mother, whom I always addressed as Mrs. Osborn in our younger years.
Joan was a rarity among the moms in my circle of friends in that she was a professional woman and not a traditional housewife. That made for some interesting “liberties” during summer vacations from school. But we had a good relationship - mostly because she could talk baseball with me. The family took me 3 times to the original Yankee Stadium with Dave, we had a blast.
In later years, she asked to join our class Facebook page and let me know how much she loved seeing updates and photos of the kids she used to see swimming in the infamous in-ground pool at 15 Sunset Ave.
Though I hadn’t seen her in 40+ years, Joan will always have a warm spot in my heart. I treasured those innocent days of our youth...she was a fixture in them.
God bless Dave & Lesley and their extended family. RIP Joan.
