Donald M. Wilber, Sr.
Mt. Upton—Donald M. Wilber, Sr., 74, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2019 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. He was born on April 25, 1945 in Butternuts, son of Maurice Wilber and Wanda (Pegg) Wilber and grew up in Morris.
Don was married to Loretta Clark in 1977, sharing nearly 42 years of marriage. He was a truck driver for over 50 years, most recently working for Quality Hardwoods.
Don enjoyed being in the woods and was an avid woodcutter. He liked playing pitch and water skiing, and visiting the auction house in New Berlin every Saturday night. He was also a dedicated member of the Tired Iron Tractor Club in Morris. He was honest and good hearted and a silly grandpa.
Don will be missed by: his wife, Loretta; 5 children: Laurie Eldridge (Steve Schlutz), Donna Birch (Ford), Betsy Dean (Brian), Brenda Palmer (Ronald Allen) and Donald Wilber, Jr. (Sabrina Hetrick); grandchildren: Cory, Dustin, Thomas, Kodye, Tessa, Samantha, Cassidy, Lilly and Raven; great-grandchildren Ashdyn, Caroline, Draven, Paxdyn and one on the way; siblings: Susan, David (Kathy) and Terry (Linda), his beloved black lab, Hazel, as well as many cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his mother and stepfather, Wanda and Ferris Middlemast; father and stepmother, Maurice and Florence Wilber, and infant daughter, Erin Margaret.
Friends may call from 11:00am to 1:00pm on August 4, 2019 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney. A memorial service will begin at 1:00pm at the funeral chapel with burial following in Maplewood Cemetery, Mt. Upton.
