Obituary of Thelma E. Alger

Thelma E. Alger, 95 of Sidney Center passed away peacefully Thursday, June 27, 2019 at her home in Sidney Center. She was born May 29, 1924, daughter of the late Glenn and Alice (Skellie) Mathewson in Westford, NY Thelma graduated from Andrew S. Draper School in Schenevus with the Class of 1943. Thelma worked as a catcher for Keith Clark in Sidney when she retired after 28 years. She was known as a hard worker with a strong constitution. She is survived by: Her children – Elizabeth (Dale) Von Sande – Camdeton, MO Robert Alger, Bloomville Jeanne (John) Donnelly, Montross, VA Helen Noe, Raleigh, NC Shirley Nieberlein, Middle River, MD Donald (Tammy) Alger, Sidney Center Nancy (Greg) Peck, Sidney Son-in-law – Jerry Noah, Ohatchee, AL Sisters – Dorothy Shick, Oneonta, Esther Brooker, East Worcester, Olive Crews, Oneonta Brothers – Gordon (Anita) Mathewson, Virginia Beach, VA, Peter (Diana) Mathewson, West Oneonta As well as 27 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Thelma was also predeceased by: an infant daughter; her daughter, Linda; grandson, Will Cleaver; Daughter-in-law, Brenda; Son-in-law Ron Noe; special friend, Chet Carr; a niece and 3 nephews. Friends may call Sunday, June 30 from 4-7 PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 1 at 11:00 AM from C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery in Sidney Center.
