Obituary of Michael S. Lafond

Michael S. Lafond Bainbridge, NY Michael S. Lafond, 55 of Bainbridge, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 19, 2010 at Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center in Johnson City, NY. Michael was born on September 7, 1954, son of the late Donald and Ethel (Dunham) Lafond in Oneonta. He was a long time employee of Raymond Corporation in Greene, NY, working as a welder. On June 25, 1988, Michael married Bonnie Brown in East Guilford, NY. Michael was an avid trapper, fisherman and hunter. He devoted his life to his favorite hobby of trapping in Delaware, Otsego and Chenango counties. He belonged to Cortland County Trappers Association, New York State Trappers Association and the National Trappers Association. Michael was also a nuisance trapper in years past. Michael was known as Mick to the people who loved him. He loved the outdoors, sitting by the fire, working in his garden and his home. Most of all, he treasured his family and friends and his beloved dogs. Mick will be missed greatly by his family and every one who knew him. Michael is survived by: His wife, Bonnie Lafond Bainbridge 3 Step-daughters: Trisha and Eric Evans Otego Melissa MacDonald and companion Quentin Lewis Afton Marcy Crawford Los Angeles, CA 1 Step-son: Chris and Kelly Haney Bainbridge His brother, Donald Lafond and companion Sally Swertfager 6 Grandchildren: Jessica Campbell, Kevin Campbell, Michael MacDonald, Kyle MacDonald, Seth Abbott and Jordon Potter Great-grandson, Parker Harrington Mick was predeceased by his brother Dale Lafond and his step-son Kevin Haney. Friends are invited to call on Thursday, April 22, 2010 from 7:00-9:00pm at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. A prayer service will follow at 9:00pm at the funeral chapel with Rev. Benjamin Shaw officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cortland County Trappers Association, 2759 Fmyder Hill Road Cortland, NY 13045.
