Obituary of Faye Platt

Faye Platt, 82, from Unadilla, NY, passed away at home on Monday, June 17, 2019. She was a graduate of the Sidney School Class of 1954. Right after graduation she went to work as a teller at the Sidney Bank which was located on Main St. in Sidney, she worked at Bendix in Dept. 51, she worked a short time and Woolworth's in Oneonta, and after moving to Unadilla she worked part-time at Earls Poultry Farm as an egg handler but mainly she was a stay at home wife and mother.

It was while she was working at Bendix that she met her future husband, Ronald "Ronnie" Platt. They were married on January 27, 1962 and were married for 57 years. They lived a very short time in Sidney before buying a house and moving to Unadilla. She liked visiting with family and friends, bird watching, reading, flower gardening, watching science fiction, and traveling. She also took great pleasure in driving her daughter crazy checking out strange noises that she heard at night – she was fearless!

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Platt; her daughter, Michele Myers-Platt; her granddaughter & boyfriend, Jessica Winans and Zachary Rowe; grandson, Nathan Winans; a great-grandson, Silas Steven Rowe, all from Unadilla; 2 sisters: Carol Thurston, Oxford, NY & Linda Crumley, Florida; 2 brothers-in-law: Calvin Thurston, Oxford, NY & Steve Crumley, Florida; 2 brothers: Brian Knapp & Joel Knapp both from New Mexico; 3 sisters-in-law: Catherine Wellman, Rochester, NY, Vivian Spezio, Oneonta, NY, & Wendy Platt, Mt. Vision, NY; many nieces & nephews, and many great & great-great nieces & nephews.

She was predeceased by her mother, Anna Wilson, her father, Floyd Knapp, brother John Knapp, niece Carla Thurston, nephews, David Wellman, David Platt, & Billy Platt, brothers-in-law, Charles Platt, Gerard Wellman, Gerald Platt, Eugene Platt, Warren Platt, & Pete Spezio, sisters-in-law, Ruthann Knapp, Gail Knapp, Eva Platt, Barbara Platt, & Sandra Platt.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by C. H. Landers Funeral Home, Sidney. There will be no calling hours. Services will be at the Sand Hill United Methodist Church, 127 Sand Hill Road, Unadilla on Monday, June 24, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with a graveside service immediately following in the Sand Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Faye's name to the Unadilla Fire Department and Emergency Squad, 72 Clifton St., Unadilla, NY 13849.
