Obituary of Sharon Lee Roof

Sharon Lee Roof Sidney Center, NY Sharon Lee Roof, 64, of Sidney Center, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Wilson Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Sharon was born on June 8, 1954 in Walton, NY, daughter of the late Morris and Cynthia (Kinne) Rivenburg. The pillars of Sharon's life were family, faith and community. On June 8, 1974, she was married to Lynn Roof; sharing nearly 45 years of love and happiness, and raising four children. Following a devastating fire at the Sidney Center United Methodist Church, Sharon played an instrumental role in establishing the Sidney Center Family and Friends Church, where she also served as secretary. She was also secretary for the Sidney Center Fire District, an active member of the Maywood Historical Group and a major contributor to the Annual Tractor Parade. She worked for the ARC of Delaware County as an administrative assistant for nearly 30 years with retirement on her horizon. Sharon was positive, genuine and supportive; she never judged and always put others before herself. She was the glue to her family; a dedicated wife, mother and mema. She will be missed by: her husband, Lynn Roof; four children: Jeremy and Becky Roof, Mark and Tara Roof, Kristy Roof and Matthew Knights and Michael and Renee Roof; seven cherished grandchildren: Zoe, Everley, Annika, Addyson, Lucas, Julia and Alyssa; 5 siblings: Carlotta and Donald Holden, Darla Crandall, Clifford Rivenburg, Donald and Nancy Rivenburg and Laurna and Paul Hotaling; sisters-in-law, Joan Roof and Carol Hulbert; brothers-in-law, Bert Roof and Ruth Curtis and Carl and Suzette Roof, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Sharon was predeceased by her infant grandson, Carter. Friends are invited to call from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm on Friday, May 10, 2019 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 11th at the funeral chapel.
