Louise E. Glacken

SIDNEY—Louise E. Glacken, 98, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018 at A.O. Fox Nursing Home in Oneonta.

Louise was born in Franklin, NY on November 30, 1920, daughter of the late George and Maude (Russell) Bookhout. She graduated from Franklin Central School and Cobleskill College in 1942.

She married Earl C. Glacken November 27, 1943. He predeceased her in May 1997.

She lived in Oneonta for several years before coming to Sidney where she worked at Bendix for many years. After retirement, she and her husband spent winters in Lakeland, Florida.

Louise was a long time member of the Sidney United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and John LaClair of Melbourne, FL and grandchildren David of Charlotte, NC and Erika of Melbourne, FL; son, David Glacken of Sidney; her sister-in-law, Wanda Bookhout of Sidney and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband, Louise was predeceased by three brothers: Frederick Bookhout and his wife, Helen; Robert Bookhout and Kenneth Bookhout and his wife, VeLane.

There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Sidney United Methodist Church, 12 Liberty St. Sidney, NY 13838.  A reception in the church hall will follow the service.  Burial will take place in the spring in Ouleout Valley Cemetery, Franklin.
