Obituary of Frederic E. Van Voorhis

Frederic E. Van Voorhis Sidney, NY Frederic E. Van Voorhis, 91 formerly of Sidney, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Bridgewater Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Binghamton. Fred was born in Worcester, NY on July 1 1918, one of seven brothers, all now deceased, to the late Fay and Lela (Fancher) Van Voorhis. He attended Worcester schools, and later moved to Sidney, where he was employed at what was then known as Scintilla, retiring in the 1970's. On September 7, 1946, he married Ruth Egli in Sidney. Fred's main interest was the care and upkeep of his home on Overlook Drive, and was well known and liked in the neighborhood. Fred was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church of Sidney. Frederic is survived by: His wife, Ruth E. Van Voorhis of Norwich Son, Robert Van Voorhis of Austin, TX Brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Henry and Ellen Egli and their family of Sidney His niece, Valerie Anderson Wittkamper Friends may call at their convenience on Friday, March 26, 2010 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. The family will be in attendance from 3:00-4:00pm. Burial will be at a later date at Maple Grove Cemetery, Worchester, NY.
