Obituary of Rose L. Bunzey

Rose L. Bunzey, 73, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta. She was born on October 2, 1945 in Sidney, daughter of the late Charles D. and Martha (Teed) McCumber.

On November 6, 1966, Rose was married to Raymond Bunzey, sharing 52 years of marriage. Rose and Ray enjoyed traveling across the country, but never by plane. She loved racing, from local dirt track to Nascar, and they would often visit different tracks through their travels. She liked visiting casinos, antiquing, reading and puzzles. In her younger years, she also had a knack for embroidery. Rose enjoyed spending time with her close friends who were always willing to lend a helping hand, especially in the past few years

Rose was a longtime, valued employee of Mang Insurance and Mirabitos, retiring in 2008. Following retirement, she worked part time for Bainbridge School.

In addition to her husband, Ray, Rose is survived by: daughter, Dawn and John Nelsen of Unadilla; stepchildren: Terri and Bill McCall of Afton and Bill and Deb Bunzey of Afton; 7 grandchildren: Tallan Nelsen, Jason Whitney, Derek Richardson, Rob Bunzey, Billy Bunzey, Cheryl Kelly and Joe Bunzey; 10 great-grandchildren; and her beloved canine companions, Gretchen and Willie.

She was predeceased by her parents; son, Brian Bunzey in 1993, step-son, Bobby Bunzey in 1966 and her sister, Florence Waldron.

Friends are invited to call from 4:00-7:00pm on Friday, November 16, 2018 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Rose's memory may be directed to the Delaware Valley Humane Society, 101 E. Main St. Sidney, NY 13838.
