Wayne Ellis Taylor passed away peacefully on September 28, 2018 at Valley View Manor in Norwich NY after battling Parkinsons for many years.
Wayne was born on February 9, 1938 in Walton NY, the son of the late Ellis and Leona (Blossom) Taylor of Northfield NY. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother Alan Taylor of Beaufort SC. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Debra (Roach) Taylor of Sidney NY, a sister Carol Irwin of Hamden NY, a brother Russell Taylor of Lecanto FL, Daughter Cathy (Jerry) Phillips of Clarksville TN, Daughter Phyllis (Mike) Oliver of Davenport NY, Daughter Valerie (Matt) Bateman of Forest Junction WI, Son Brian Taylor of Mountain Lake VA, Step Daughter Tracy (Eric) Mack of Bainbridge NY, and Step Son Jason Thompson of Sidney NY, Eleven Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren and countless family and friends.
Wayne's passion was farming which he did for much of his life in Sidney Center on the Crane Hill Farm he owned. He earned many awards and was recognized for his outstanding dairy farm. After selling the farm he worked on the Sidney Highway Department which he retired from. He loved to Golf and Bowled in several leagues gaining local fame with induction to the Tri-County Bowling Hall of fame in 2003. Wayne enjoyed woodworking in his own wood shop at home after retirement. He also loved being in the tractor pulls for many years at the Delaware County Fair in Walton. He was a volunteer fireman at the Sidney Center fire department for several years and is a lifetime honorary member. Wayne served in the National Guard at Ft Drum from 1955 to 1963.
A Casual Celebration of his Life will be held at the Sidney Center Fire Hall in Sidney Center NY on October 6, 2018 from 1 to 5 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sidney Center Fire Department in Wayne's name. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Valley View Manor.
