Douglas L. Lent, 70, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 after an extended illness. Doug was born on December 14, 1947 in Sidney, son of the late Kenneth L. and Ethlyn (Giles) Lent.
Doug loved driving truck; he was a member of the Teamsters for 31 years. He worked as a truck driver for Coventry Transport for many years, and also drove for ABF, Red Star and Butts Concrete.
On March 24, 1978, he was married to Donna Farrington in Afton; she predeceased him on December 9, 2003.
He is survived by: 1 Son, Robert and Patricia Lent of Seymour, IN; 7 daughters: Denise and Rodney Johnson of Bondurant, IA, Tina Stanton of Afton, Colleen and Scott Martin of Rices Landing, PA, Kimberly and Thomas Dodd of Afton, Karen and Samuel Nichols of Cooperstown, Christa McEwan and Courtney Westcott of Binghamton, and Lisa and Matthew Tanner of Afton; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers: Frank and Doris Lent of Chittenango, Edward and Verna Lent of Masonville, and Terry and Kathy Lent of Masonville; two sisters: Donna and Larry Buckley of Castile and Elma and Sam Costello of Afton; long time friend, Drew Brendell of Afton and sister-in-law, Pat Lent of Masonville as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his wife, Doug was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Lent and a brother-in-law, Carl Ketchum.

Friends are invited to call from 5:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, July 18th at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Afton, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Amyloidosis Foundation at www.amyloidosis.org.
